Attarine Medersa

The Medersa Attarine is located opposite the mosque Al Qaraouiyine and close to the Attarine souk (spice merchants). It was built in the 14th century by the Merinids under the reign of sultan Abou Said (between 1323 and 1325). Meant to host about 60 students, this medersa is considered by historians as the most refined Koranic school in the Muslim world especially because of its splendid architecture, its splendid architecture, its mosaics, its cedar wood ceiling, its gates and its calligraphy. The medersa has been restored several times, and it is open daily from 8.30am to 12am, and from 2.30pm to 6.30pm.
Admission fee payable.
